Church Groups

St Johns hosts a number of community groups within the Parish:

House Group (Various)

There are a number of house groups organised by members of St Johns. For more details, please speak to one of Ministry Team.

The topic for study may be a book of the bible, a study course or some other format but we discuss and agree together what topics to follow.

We are always discovering something new in our faith and it’s good to have time to share and encourage one another on our Christian journey, so please feel free to come along for a taster and see if it's for you.

Computer Support / Internet Café (Mon 10am - 12pm)

On Monday Mornings from 10am to 12pm, St John's Community Link houses a Computer Support and Internet Café. A number of knowledgeable helpers are on hand to assist with learning about computers (including tablets & phones), offer guidance/advice and help solve computer related problems.

The support can be tailored to your needs, or the team can suggest areas to explore (such as managing photos, sending emails, searching the internet, viewing Facebook and using Skype).

Internet access is free for all attendees. Bring along your own computer, or borrow one for the morning.

Café Link (Mon & Fri 2pm - 4pm)

Join us for coffee/tea, biscuits, chat and book swap in the Community Link.

St. John's Friendship Group (Wed 2pm - 4pm)

The Friendship Group meets every Wednesday 2.00pm to 4.00pm in St John’s Community Link. We offer a variety of activities - bingo, whist, dominoes and guest speakers but you are welcome just to come for a chat and a cup of tea. Most members are over 60 but that is not essential! For more information - call Pat on (Derby) 514281.

The Link Book Club (Wed 7pm - 9pm)

The Link Book Club meet on a Wednesday evening approximately once a month for a mixture of social chat and book discussion. They cover a wide range of titles and authors, often finding that initial dicussion points lead off at tangents to challenge preconceptions and views of the world.

There is a somewhat random method of choosing what to read next, but this has worked well, as personal choices, library sets, recommenations and current affairs/issues ensure a variation in authors, style and content.

If you would be interested in joining the club, please contact Terry on (Burton) 735931.

The Choir / Music Group (Thursday Rehearsal)

Our informal choir leads the singing at our 10am Service most Sundays. From time to time a small group of people offer musical accompaniment. It is a real joy and strength that whatever combination of instruments and singers we have it always provides a strong lead to keep us in tune and sing praises to God.

The Choir / Music Group is not an exclusive club. We don't hold auditions, welcome both voice and instruments and won't push you to perform on Sunday if you don't want to. So why not come and join us?
